Susan Tan has spent years lecturing in healthcare at Asia’s Leading Medical School, NUS and NTU School of Social Sciences. She’s the President of the Society of Behavioural Health.
In the last 20 years, Susan has conducted over 1000 training seminars on health, wellbeing, aged care and healthcare and audited hundreds of work training programs for the Work Development Authority Singapore (now Workforce Singapore).

Unveiling Wellness: Exploring Health Holistically and Social Determinants of Health
Course Synopsis
In this engaging and interactive 6-hour workshop, participants will embark on a journey to deepen their understanding of the intricate web of factors that shapes individual health outcomes and mental well-being beyond just physical symptoms. By examining the social determinants of health and the (BPSS) model, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of what truly shapes their well-being. Participants will also gain insights into the life course perspective and its implications on health trajectories from infancy to old age, participants will build on their understanding in how cumulative exposures, lived experiences, and behaviours results in chronic low-grade inflammation and disease development. At the end of the session, participants would have gathered a toolbox of strategies to make small and easy lifestyle change(s) which can increase their years of healthy longevity.

- Our Founder, Susan, has been practising mindfulness for her psychological and emotional wellbeing for 3 decades. Having published her first book in 2018 – Add MEANINGS To Your Life Every Day: Keep Dementia At Bay. During the Covid-19 circuit breaker in Singapore, she wrote her second book: DIY Happiness Toolkit: Your Practical Guide for a Happier Life in the New Normal to help everyone reframe the bleak situation and to strengthen their resilience and move on with life with a sense of purpose and joy.
- ECI has developed Rethink 50 series of workshops for CFS in 2016 which equips the workforce as well as job seekers with the necessary knowledge and skills to understand the need for change and look at change as an opportunity. This helps prepare them for life transitions. There are also contents to connect better with others socially for their social wellbeing. To-date, ECI has trained more than 2000 participants and have been receiving very good feedback and recommendations from the participants. Some participants shared that they were able to have a good night sleep after practising the mindful breathing exercise taught in class and that they have never slept so well in their lives. In 2019, PSD decided to offer it to the whole public service.

- As the President of the Society of Behavioural Health Singapore, Susan drives the advancement of Health Coaching in Singapore via the creation of the Health Coaching Competency framework and chairs the Health Coaching Chapter.
- Susan is helping healthcare businesses to conceptualise, set up their health coaching operations including the professional development and performance appraisal of the health coaches.
- Susan set up and headed the Career Coaching Unit at MOM in 2000.
- ECI has developed and conducted numerous capability building programmes on coaching skills for executives and leaders since 2007.
- In 2020, ECI coached close to 80 young consultants from Deloitte Japan for a better headstart in their consulting career.
